Joel Lamangan, in an interview with showbiz reporter Cristy Fermin, expressed hopes that young director Darryl Yap would someday find it in his heart to work for the truth that serves a lot of people.

The famous and multi-awarded director expressed this wish during his interview over at Cristy Ferminute with Rommel Chika and Cristy Fermin.

According to Direk Joel, young director Darryl would someday look back and reminisce about the past as he grows older.

“Siguro bahagi ito ng kanyang magiging pagtingin sa, kasi lilingon din naman siya sa likuran niya eh, pag tumatanda na siya,” Direk Joel said.

The multi-awarded director said that by then, perhaps the young director would see the evolution of his stardom because it would be part of his past.

“Makikita niya siguro ang evolution ng kanyang pagpapaimbulog, makikita, kasi magiging bahagi iyan ng kanyang kasaysayan,” he added.

When that time comes, Direk Joel hopes that Direk Darryl would change his views and start serving the truth as accepted by many people.

“Sana mabago at maglingkod naman siya sa katotohanan ng taong-bayan,” Direk Joel said.

Joel Lamangan is an award-winning Filipino director and actor. One of his notable films was "Flor Contemplacion."

Last year, Direk Joel also aired out his thoughts on new and younger directors. He was asked what he can say about these younger breed of directors in local showbiz. The premier director then proceeded to say that there are those new ones who are already very arrogant, who felt that they were God's gift to Philippine cinema. Direk Joel did not bother to mention names as to who he was referring to.

He also slammed actors and actresses who doesn't show any respect with the production staff they're working with. Direk Joel said these are the actors who are late for the call time for their shooting and he says he reprimands them if they do. For him, actors should not arrive beyond their call time and he is very happy with those who arrive first and are able to prepare for the scenes. He said even big actors and actresses have experienced getting reprimanded by him.
