Deniece Cornejo asks Taguig RTC to reverse bail grant to Vhong Navarro

Deniece Cornejo has asked the Taguig Regional Trial Court to reverse its decision granting bail to Vhong Navarro.

According to a report by Manila Bulletin, Cornejo, through his lawyer Howard Calleja, filed a motion for reconsideration with a motion to inhibit from hearing the rape case on December 19 with the Taguig RTC Branch 69 under Judge Loralie Datahan.

It can be recalled that in an order dated December 5, 2022, the court allowed the actor and TV host to post P1 million bail for his temporary liberty while the court is hearing the case, GMA News Online reported.

Inquirer.net also published a report with the official court document stating that the RTC is "not convinced at this point, that there exists a presumption great leading to the inference of the accused's guilt."

Navarro was released from Taguig City Jail's male dormitory on December 6, 2022 after posting bail.

Vhong is a Filipino comedian, actor, dancer, singer, judge, and TV host of ABS-CBN Entertainment Groups. He was part of the dance group Streetboys in the Philippines. He is one of the pioneer hosts of the noontime variety show, "It's Showtime."

In a previous report by KAMI, Navarro created a buzz because of his post on Christmas day. In his post, the actor aired gratitude to those who showed love and support for him. Cristy Fermin then took to his radio program, “Cristy Ferminute,” to react to Navarro’s post. The veteran showbiz columnist said she is happy for Navarro, who was able to spend Christmas with his family.

Just recently, Ogie Alcasid took to social media to greet Navarro a happy birthday. The latter is celebrating his 46th birthday on January 4. On his Instagram page, Alcasid shared a heartwarming photo of him and Navarro. In the caption, the singer-songwriter expressed how elated he is to have a “brother for life” like Navarro.
