Cristy Fermin aired her honest thoughts on the recent death hoax about Kapuso veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez.

In the latest episode of “Cristy Ferminute,” the entertainment columnist expressed sadness over the spread of the fake news.
“Nakakalungkot naman 'yung lumabas na balita kahapon na nag-viral agad. 'Yung tungkol sa magaling broadcaster na si Ginoong Mike Enriquez. Ito sana ay hindi lalala, hindi magba-viral ito kung walang mga personalidad na nagpahatid ng pakikiramay kay Tito Mike at sa kanyang pamilya. Doon po talaga ito nadagdagan, ang paniniwala ng mga kababayan natin na iniwan na tayo ni Tito Mike.”
Furthermore, Cristy was relieved that Arnold Clavio was able to debunk the false claim immediately.

The showbiz reporter went on to give some pieces of advice to netizens.
“'Wag po tayo agad-agad naniniwala, mga Kapatid, sa mga ganitong klase ng balita hanggang hindi po nagmumula sa mismong pamilya o opisyal na pahayag po ng kanilang network o malalapit na kaibigan. Huwag ho natin agad-agad itong paniniwalaan, marami na pong pinatay ang social media.”

Mike Enriquez, or Miguel Castro Enriquez in real life, is an award-winning journalist who serves as one of the anchors of “24 Oras.” In 2014, he received the Excellence in Broadcasting Award during the PMPC Star Awards for TV.
In December of 2021, Mike took much-needed medical leave of absence, GMA Network announced. The network released a statement about the said matter. It noted that Mike “will undergo a medical procedure that will require hospital confinement” and “a minimum of three months isolation period as advised by his doctor”. GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon likewise asked for everyone’s prayers for the veteran broadcaster's health.
