Cristy Fermin recently defended 'Megastar' Sharon Cuneta from her bashers after her post about Miguel Pangilinan's simple phone went viral.

Earlier, Sharon made headlines when she gave Miguel his first-ever phone, one that was a simple model, just days ahead of his 13th birthday.

Following this news, KAMI learned that some bashers criticized Sharon's decision to give Miguel a simple and older version of a phone.

In 'Cristy Ferminute' online, the veteran columnist discussed the matter with her co-host on the show, Romel Chika.

"Tulad na lamang po ng Megastar na si Sharon Cuneta na sa kaarawan ng kanilang anak ni Sen. Kiko Pangilinan na si Miguel ay nag-regalo ng may kalumaan pong nobelo ng telepono," she began.

According to Cristy, Sharon can even give a truck full of iPhone to Miguel but opted not to give him a smartphone out of practicality.

"Kahit naman isang truck ng iPhone, kaya namang bigyan ni Sharon Cuneta si Miguel. Kaya lamang, yung praktikalidad ang iniisip niya diba. Makatawag lang, maka-text, hindi naman kailangan na yung ganitong edad na trese anyos eh bibigyan mo na kaagad, although of course pupwede naman dahil kayang kaya naman niya, kaya lang may kani-kaniyang po kasing disiplinang pinaiiral ang mga magulang," she said.

In the video, Cristy then concluded, "Kung makikita niyo lang po kung gaano kamahal ng mag-asawa ang kanilang anak na si Miguel, hindi na po siguro tayo magsasalita ng ganyan."
