- This was confirmed by Officer in Charge Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil from the Offce of the Press Secretary

- Earlier, Soriano admitted an existing offer from the President for him to become the new press secretary

- However, he felt that he would fare better if he would be working with the media and communications team of the President

Direk Paul Soriano, husband of actress and host Toni Gonzaga, was appointed by Pres. Bongbong Marcos to be the presidential adviser on creative communications, and is set to take his oath on Oct. 17, a Philstar report stated.

The confirmation on the appointment was done by the Office of the Press Secretary through Officer-In-Charge Undersecretary Cheloy Garafil.

"Confirmed. [Soriano] will take his oath later," Inquirer reported as Garafil's statement given through text message.

Previously, Soriano admitted that the President offered him the position of becoming the next Press Secretary, however, he also noted that he felt a person more qualified would be best for the position, he noted in Manila Bulletin's report.

“I can be of better service behind the scenes working with the president‘s media and communications team," he said.

Paul has been supporting the candidacy of Pres. Marcos from the very beginning.

He is the nephew of the First Lady Lisa Araneta Marcos.

Paul Soriano is a Filipino director. He is the husband of Toni Gonzaga. They have a son, Seve.

Cristy Fermin said there are people suggesting Toni Gonzaga for the Press Secretary post. This was after director Paul declined the said position when it was offered to him. During “Cristy Ferminute," Cristy believes that the actress and TV host is qualified. The showbiz columnist, however, thinks that Toni would not be interested since it is not her line of work.

Toni and Paul's son, Seve, has just turned six recently. The celebrity kid celebrated his special day in a fun “Huggy Wuggy”-themed birthday party.
