Veteran actress Rustica Carpio passes away at 91; her niece confirms

Nessea took to her Facebook account to confirm the heartbreaking news.

According to Nessea, the award-winning and veteran actress died on Tuesday, February 1. However, she did not disclose Rustica’s cause of death.

Furthermore, Nessea penned a farewell message to her aunt.

Her post reads:

“We wish you farewell in your journey to eternity. You’d never be forgotten, rest in Peace Tita Rustica Carpio.

August 9 , 1930- Feb 1, 2022”

Rustica Carpio was a multi-awarded actress, philanthropist, author and former College of Languages and Mass Communication, now known as the College of Communication, at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. She was born on August 9, 1930 at Paombong, Bulacan. Rustica has appeared in many acclaimed roles like Lady Macbeth, Sisa, Teodora Alonzo and Leonor Rivera and bagged several awards, including the Best Actress in the 33rd Gawad Urian in 2010 for her lead role in Brillante Mendoza’s “Lola".

A few weeks ago, Jose Manalo’s estranged wife Anna Lyn Manalo also passed away. According to the comedian’s daughter Myki Manalo, her mother died on January 14. Myki, however, opted not to disclose Anna Lyn’s cause of death. Myki also shared their to host an intimate and dignified memorial service for Anna Lyn.

Earlier, Legendary thespian Celia Diaz Laurel has also passed away on July 12, 2021 at the age of 93. Celia was the wife of the late former Philippine Vice President Salvador Laurel and was the grandmother of actress Denise Laurel. She has made many contributions to art and society as she was a prolific writer, an accomplished painter, and a philanthropist. She is survived by her children Suzie, Lynnie, Cocoy, David, Larry, and Iwi.
