Veteran showbiz columnist Lolit Solis expressed hopes that movie films joining the Metro Manila Film Festival this year would earn some money.

She took note of the lackluster interest of people in going to movies.

“Sana naman kumita ang mga kasali sa filmfest ngayon. Kawawa naman ang film industry kung mawawala na ang magpo produce dahil hindi bumabalik ang sigla ng mga manunuod,” Nay Lolit wrote in her IG post.

The showbiz columnist said that if people continue to lose interest in watching movies, then producers would cease to make movies, resulting in massive loss of jobs.

She then called out the penchant of many today to seek entertainment through their mobile phones and cable TVs.

“Kasi nga, meron iba ng mga paraan para makapanuod, iyon iba sa telepono na lang , O kaya Ipad , kaya tamad ng lumabas ng bahay. Nasa TV naman at cable ang iba. Paano na ang sinehan?” the veteran showbiz columnist said.

The veteran showbiz columnist also took note of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the movie industry.

She appealed to everyone to watch movies to help the industry so people within this sector could keep on working and not lose their jobs.

“Talagang ito ang taimtim na dasal ni Noel Ferrer dahil nga marami ang mawawalan ng trabaho,” Nay Lolit further wrote.

She then revealed that there were many great movie trailers these days and once again appealed for people’s support.

Lolit Solis is a Pinay talk show host, entertainment news writer, talent manager and showbiz columnist. She was born on May 20, 1947 in the city of Manila. According to the veteran columnist, she spent her early life in a poor section of Lardizabal in Sampaloc, Manila. She has made numerous controversial remarks about known celebrities. She was also involved in the infamous 1994 Manila Film Scandal, where she induced several actors and actresses to announce different names as winners.

The showbiz columnist recently stirred buzz on social media with her latest online post on Instagram. In her viral post, the veteran columnist talked about the Sotto family's appearances on "Eat Bulaga." According to Lolit, since the celebrity couple is working from home, their spontaneity as a family can be seen. She then went on to commend the Sotto family for their "bonggang family bonding" in her post.

She also revealed in a lengthy post in Instagram her real sentiments when it comes to being made as a godmother during weddings. She said that there were so many who made her into their godmother but only a few of them really touched her heart. Among those she mentioned were Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, as well as the sibling of Pauleen Luna. The veteran showbiz columnist then underscored that now, she really don't want to be a ninang if she is not close to the couple.
