“Funny how life puts us in different seats. Yesterday was one of those days. He was my ‘driver.’ Lol,” Canlas wrote.

The news anchor then opened up about knowing Alden for years and said he sometimes wished that people could see the actor beyond his public image and life under the spotlight.

“We’ve been friends for years, and sometimes I wish people could see the person I’ve come to know beyond the spotlight,” Canlas said.

According to Canlas, his years of knowing Alden have allowed him to witness the actor’s generosity firsthand. He described Alden as someone who gives a great deal of himself to other people, even when doing so may leave little for himself.

“I’ve seen him give so much of himself, sometimes even more than he could afford to give, leaving little or even none for himself. That’s something I’ve always admired about him,” he wrote.

Canlas acknowledged that he could not claim to know everything about Alden’s life or circumstances. Still, he said his personal experience with the actor has given him confidence in Alden’s character.
