On Wednesday, October 14, Darla took to social media to share an open message for Joshua, whom she fondly called “Kuya Josh.” She highlighted his kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity, recalling how he had always looked after his mother and younger brother, Bimby, as well as the people around him.

“I love you, Kuya Josh! You are one of the kindest, most thoughtful, and most generous people I know. Mula pagkabata, witness na ako kung paano mo alagaan si Mama at si Bimb sa paraang alam mo, at kung paano mo rin alalahanin ang lahat ng tao sa paligid mo.

The driver, the angels sa bahay, the nurse, the teachers, si Bimb, si Mama—lahat! You always think of everyone. Dun nga madalas napupunta ang allowance mo eh! You would rather spend it making other people happy than spend it on yourself.

And that, to me, says so much about the person you are.”
