Former beauty queen Lara Quigaman opened up about a deeply painful chapter in her life, revealing that she once found herself in an abusive relationship that caused her to drift away from her faith.

In an emotional interview with journalist Karen Davila on her YouTube vlog, Lara spoke candidly about the struggles she endured behind the scenes—despite appearing happy and successful to the public.
“I was in the wrong relationship. I drifted far away from God. On the outside, I was happy, successful and yet, my heart was very far away from God,” Lara shared.
She described how the relationship left her feeling trapped, as she struggled to break free from a situation that weighed heavily on her emotionally and spiritually.

“There were times I would go to taping, but then I’d go back there. I was so trapped. I felt like there was no way for me to escape,” she recalled.
Lara admitted that during that time, she felt overwhelmed by guilt and believed she was beyond redemption.
“I felt the Lord wouldn’t forgive me because of all my sins. I felt super lost, no hope,” she said.
Her pain became so intense that she even found herself thinking of extreme ways to escape the situation.
“I felt that the only way I could escape the relationship was if the guy would die,” she revealed, underscoring just how desperate and helpless she felt at the time.
The turning point came when her mother unexpectedly stepped in to help her, a moment Lara now sees as divine intervention.
“One day, my mom flew in for some reason. I don’t know who told her or how she found out. She said, ‘I’m going to help you.’ God used my mom to help me,” she shared.
