The controversy arose after viral videos captured Shuvee fangirling over Donny during a dinner with executives from ABS-CBN and GMA Network, prompting social media users to comment and debate the interaction.
Currently abroad for a brief vacation, Donny acknowledged that while he usually refrains from responding to online rumors, the level of hostility surrounding the situation has become impossible to ignore.
“Hey guys, I’m out of the country right now on a short break but I’ve been seeing a lot online. I don’t usually speak up, but I think it’s about time we stop spreading hate and constantly comparing people. There are far more important things happening in our country.”

He then highlighted the human impact of online attacks, reminding fans that artists are real people with feelings:
“I feel like we’ve gotten too comfortable throwing hate online without thinking about how that affects actual human beings who have done nothing wrong. This is for all fandoms. Artists have lives too. It’s gone below the belt. Why did we reach this point?”
Donny also took the opportunity to defend Belle Mariano, emphasizing her positive qualities amid the online commentary:
“As for Belle, please keep her out of your narratives. She is beautiful, talented, and most importantly, has a great heart. Nothing you say or do will change that.”
He explained that the viral videos were unexpected, noting that the dinner was initially intended to be private and intimate:
“I told Shuvee the videos were going around out of shock, as I went to dinner at first thinking it was just going to be intimate and private. People forget we are all friends in this industry. Why do we keep pitting people against each other?”
Donny also addressed assumptions about his intentions, clarifying that he does not seek clout or enjoy seeing others bashed online:
“And to those who think I just enjoy the clout and people getting bashed, you clearly dont know me. Feel free to leave. There is no space for that here. I am and never was about that.”
He concluded his posts with a reflection on the country’s current situation and a message of gratitude for those spreading positivity:
“Thats all from me. Hope everyones doing okay despite how horrible our situation is right now in the country. Thank you to those who continue to spread love. Have a blessed Holy Week! Love y’all”
Shuvee Etrata first gained public attention as a housemate in a previous season of Pinoy Big Brother. Known as the “Island Ate ng Cebu,” she won viewers over with her authenticity, charm, and lively personality. Although she did not win the grand prize, she became one of the most memorable contestants of her batch. After the show, Shuvee gradually built her presence in entertainment through guest appearances, hosting stints, and consistent engagement with fans across her growing social media platforms.
Following her reaction to Donny that sparked mixed responses online, Shuvee issued an apology to DonBelle fans. She clarified that her excitement was simply a fangirl moment and that Donny is just a crush. Shuvee stressed that romance is not involved and expressed her admiration for Donny’s achievements. She also encouraged fans to be kind and mindful of their words on social media.
Recently, Shuvee paid tribute to the iconic PBB house as it prepares to close and relocate. She shared her gratitude for the lessons learned and the personal and professional growth it gave her.
