The lot where the Bahay ni Kuya stands has already been sold. ABS-CBN, however, arranged a lease extension to allow for the production of two editions of PBB Celebrity Collab in partnership with GMA 7.

“We’ve sustained this for 21 years. Years back I’ve been seeing the possibility of moving out of this property. But the collab happened with Channel 7, so found good reason to keep the house,” he added.

Construction of the original PBB house began in May 2005 and was completed in just three months, enabling the show to debut in August of the same year. Prior to this, the site was occupied by ABS-CBN’s travel show Lakbay TV.

The house covers roughly 1,400 square meters and was designed for round-the-clock filming. Its original layout featured two bedrooms, one bathroom, a garden, a swimming pool, and 26 cameras running continuously. The initial cost of construction was approximately P15 million, reflecting the elaborate design and technical setup.

For fans and staff alike, the PBB house has been more than a filming location—it has been a cultural landmark, witnessing the journeys of countless contestants who became household names. While the physical house may be closing, the show itself will continue to evolve, promising new stories and experiences in its new home.

Pinoy Big Brother is a reality show where the contestants are required to stay in a house known as “Bahay ni Kuya.” The big winner will be determined by overcoming the challenges that must be faced inside the house, and also with the help of votes from the audience. The Philippine adaptation of the popular American TV reality series has produced big stars like Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Sam Milby, and many more.

In an earlier report, the production team, according to PBB Business Unit Head Marcus Vinuya, is exploring a move for the iconic Pinoy Big Brother house. He suggested it could happen “sooner than people think,” closing a 21-year era. A new edition with regular contestants is now in the works, following successful celebrity collaborations. While the change may bring nostalgia, leadership believes a fresh setting will provide “new energy” and unpredictable content for viewers.
