Last October, Robin Padilla spoke candidly about his mother’s condition during an interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda. The senator described the difficulty of seeing his once-strong mother become physically and mentally frail.

“Iba po si Mama kaya masakit sa amin ngayon na nakikita namin yung mama namin na mahinang-mahina. Meron siyang dementia kasi.
Minsan nakakalimutan niya kung sino siya. Nakakalimutan niya kung nasaan siya. Ang natatandaan niya, lahat ng masakit. Kanina lang, magmula kagabi hanggang kanina, iyak nang iyak yun.
Walang tigil ng iyak kasi lahat ng natatandaan niya, masakit. Kaya ang gagawin mo, tulad ng sinabi ni Mariel, kakantahan mo siya ng mga kanta na natatandaan niya.
Halimbawa yung ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya,’ yun ang good memories nila ng tatay ko. Yun yung kapag kinanta mo, ngingiti siya.
Yung ‘Dahil Sa Yo.’ Lahat ng kantang iyun good memories sa kanya. Mahirap kasi kapag nakita mo yung nanay mong matibay, matigas, tapos makikita mo siya na helpless.”

Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, a familiar face in Philippine television, rose to prominence as a host on Wowowee and later became part of It’s Showtime. Over the years, she has appeared in numerous programs across ABS-CBN and TV5, earning a reputation for her engaging personality and natural connection with audiences. In her message, she thanked veteran singer Dulce for being a close friend to her grandmother and acknowledged the support of her husband, Senator Robin Padilla, as well as Senator Camille Villar during the special recognition.
