Leon Barretto opened up about why he has not yet pursued a career in showbiz, despite coming from one of the most prominent families in Philippine entertainment. In an interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Leon admitted that acting has always been something he is passionate about, but he wants to enter the industry fully prepared rather than rushing into it.

“I’ll be completely honest, I’ve always wanted to do showbiz. I’m very passionate when it comes to the craft, especially acting. But I don’t know, I think there was something in me that was quite hesitant because I still want to enter the industry prepared. I don’t want to get into something that I really don’t know of. I do know the ropes a little bit, but I think I need to hone my craft before entering it,” he said.

Leon also emphasized that he values his current level of privacy and wants to explore other opportunities while he is still young.

“But also, I enjoy the little privacy that I have. And I feel like I just acknowledged that the world is so big. You know I’m 23 years old and I kind of want to study more. I think showbiz will always be there, but I want to take masters, I want to start my own business, I want to do a lot of things. I don’t want to be locked out, di ba? Showbiz will always be there. So let’s see,” he added.

Despite his well-known background as the son of Marjorie Barretto and brother of actress Julia Barretto, Leon appears to be taking a more deliberate path, focusing on self-development before stepping into the spotlight.

Meanwhile, Leon has recently been gaining attention online after being linked to international pop star Sophia Laforteza, a member of the global girl group Katseye. According to a report by Inquirer, the two sparked dating rumors after photos of them spending time together at Hong Kong Disneyland circulated on social media. In the photos, Leon was seen with his arm around Sophia’s shoulder, while she held a Lotso bear. Another photo showed them smiling as they walked around the park with their families, further fueling speculation among netizens.
