In a handwritten letter posted on Instagram on Tuesday, March 3 — which was later deleted — the singer revisited her past case involving accusations that she had imported a banned substance into South Korea.

Back in 2010, Bom allegedly brought in 82 tablets of Adderall, a medication prescribed for ADHD and narcolepsy. Since the drug is heavily restricted in South Korea, authorities launched an investigation, but the case was eventually dropped after she explained it was for medical purposes. The controversy resurfaced years later, as Adderall remains prohibited in the country due to its amphetamine content and associated health risks.

Based on a Koreaboo translation, she wrote, “This is Park Bom. I’m writing to share the truth with you. Have you all been well? I am not sick and am working hard to live well. I’m about to talk about something sensitive and frightening.”

“I am being cautious in case it causes uproar, but the medication Adderall, which is labeled as a psychotropic drug, weighs on my mind. I really didn’t want to bring it up again,” she continued.

Bom insisted the medication had been prescribed to treat her Attention Deficit Disorder and alleged that Sandara had been caught for drug use. She claimed she was turned into the fall person to deflect attention from her bandmate’s issue, though she did not identify who allegedly orchestrated it.

“It is not a druggie. I am an ADD patient, something called Attention Deficit Disorder. Sandara Park was caught for drug abuse, and to cover that up, they turned the medication into something labeled as a drug scandal involving me,” she said.

“At the time, there wasn’t even a specific medication system or law in this country regarding Adderall. Strangely, after [me], a law was created,” she added.

Bom acknowledged that speaking out might “ruin [her] reputation” and “make her soul cry,” but said she ultimately “gathered the courage to speak.” She also appealed to the public to “investigate the facts,” while directly addressing Yang Hyun-suk and 2NE1 leader CL.

“To the citizens online, I sincerely ask that you please investigate the facts as they are. And lastly, what I truly want to say is this: YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun-suk, Teddy Park, and Lee Chae-rin [CL], please do not report to the authorities that [I] used more than the prescribed amount of a drug that you yourselves have not used even once in 30 years,” she wrote.

“I am writing this because it feels like my soul is crying. Thank you for reading,” she added.

Although the post was taken down, screenshots quickly spread online. Korean media outlet OSEN later cited a close associate of Bom, who said the letter was written during a period when the singer was not in a stable condition.
