According to Diwata, the challenges he encountered changed the way he deals with people, particularly when it comes to trust.
“Ang hindi ko makakalimutan na lesson na nangyari at natutuhan ko, ang hirap magtiwala talaga sa isang tao na hindi mo kakilala. Kahit ano pa ‘yung hitsura niya, basta ang hirap magtiwala. Sa panahon ngayon, base ito sa mga karanasan ko, mahirap magtiwala sa isang tao na hindi mo talaga kilala,” he said.
The social media personality explained that his realization was shaped by the personal and business difficulties he recently experienced. While he did not elaborate on specific individuals, his statement underscored how the situation affected his outlook on partnerships and relationships in business.

Deo Balbuena, more widely recognized as Diwata, became a household name after offering affordable meals that featured unlimited rice and soup, drawing long lines of customers and massive attention online. Her charm and the accessibility of her food made her an instant viral sensation, though the fast rise also brought regulatory issues related to permits and sanitation. Even with these obstacles, she has remained a powerful example of perseverance and determination for many Filipinos.
Previously, Diwata announced the complete shutdown of her well-known food outlets in several areas, revealing that internal conflicts within the business played a major role. She shared that despite the brand’s rapid expansion, she did not receive earnings from recent franchising arrangements. Choosing to start over, she returned to operating a small food cart to support her daily expenses, seeing the setback as an opportunity for a new beginning grounded in hard work.
In another development, Diwata was taken into custody and held overnight due to alleged violations related to business compliance. She recounted her frustration over receiving a warrant of arrest without a prior subpoena and having to post ₱60,000 bail to secure temporary release. The incident took a toll on her emotionally and physically as she continued to deal with mounting legal and financial pressures from authorities.
