The mothers Rhian Ramos and Michelle Dee have come to their daughters’ defense after their former driver, Bonifacio “Totoy” Baro, filed complaints accusing the two celebrities of illegal detention and torture.

Rhian’s mother, Clara Ramos, took to Instagram to express her frustration over allegedly support for the complainant. She questioned why what she described as a “lying thief” was being given a platform and said the spread of unverified information has only worsened the situation for their family.

“I don’t understand VACC’s support for a lying thief. Nagpa-interview pa left and right, dishing out unverified information.

“It has helped fuel this social media frenzy, leaving the ones stolen from and betrayed to be victimized even more by depraved imaginations with stories morphing like cancer.

“Watching the internet tear my daughter apart for things she didn’t do. She doesn’t deserve this. Sure, through the years we know bashers will bash, but this? This is brutal, and whoever’s running this show is sick!” she said.

Meanwhile, Michelle’s mother, former beauty queen Melanie Marquez, also spoke up on Facebook, criticizing the public exposure of the accusations without what she said was proper legal basis. She stressed that such actions damage reputations and unfairly target public figures.

“To exposed such crime without proper complaint in place is a criminial offense.

“This maligned acts to stain the character and the reputation of our celebrities must put to justice for their unprofessional behaviors just to gain fame from our hardworking achievers who are public figures!” she said.

The controversy continues as both camps maintain their positions, with the actresses’ families standing firm that the allegations are baseless.

Rhian Ramos and Michelle Dee are both prominent personalities in Philippine showbiz and are known to be close friends who even share the same living space. Rhian is an established Kapuso actress, while Michelle is a beauty queen who proudly represented the country in the Miss Universe pageant. The issue started when Ramos’ driver, nicknamed “Totoy,” came forward with claims of abuse after an argument involving an angpao or red envelope that allegedly contained sensitive items.

Earlier, the lawyers of Michelle Dee and Rhian Ramos rejected the illegal detention accusations filed at the NBI. According to Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque, the complainant lived in the same condominium as the two stars. Their camp believes the complaint was motivated by revenge after Michelle filed a qualified theft case against him. The driver had reportedly admitted to taking items and even returned some of the belongings.

In another development, the actresses’ legal counsel also denied claims of physical assault and unlawful detention. Atty. Abraham-Garduque said Michelle was in Iloilo on January 17, making the timeline of the alleged incident impossible. Police medical records allegedly showed no visible injuries or bruises on the complainant during the investigation.
