In her statement, Reyes acknowledged Padilla’s feelings and expressed regret over how the situation was handled.

“It is unfortunate that ZsaZsa took her not being able to speak at the Aliw awards night as an affront to her, and I apologize to her on behalf of the foundation and the production staff,” Reyes said. She explained that the situation was not meant to undermine Padilla’s presence or achievements but was instead a result of production decisions made for the program.

Reyes further clarified that the foundation has been implementing measures to shorten the awards ceremony.

“Since last year we have been trying to shorten the awards rights and we thought giving the honorees their brief time in stage would suffice,” she said, noting that the limitation applied as part of an effort to manage the flow of the event.

Despite the constraints, Reyes emphasized that she personally would have welcomed Padilla’s remarks.

“I personally would have loved to hear what she had to say and if she had given me a sign or told one of my staff of her desire to say her piece I would have made an exception in her case,” she added, stressing that the decision was not intended as a dismissal of Padilla.

She also expressed hope for reconciliation in the future, adding, “Perhaps we can find a way to make up for it in the future.”

The statement has since circulated widely online, with Felipe’s post drawing varied reactions from netizens who weighed in on the importance of giving artists proper recognition and space to speak during major events. As of writing, Padilla has yet to issue a public response to Reyes’ apology.
