GMA’s Fast Talk With Boy Abunda featured an emotional and deeply personal interview with Kuya Kim Atienza as he spoke about the impact of losing his 19-year-old daughter, Emman Atienza, who passed away after years of battling mental health challenges. In the interview, Kuya Kim shared the raw and intimate prayers he offered in the days following her death, saying, “I was praying in the second day of Emman’s death. I said, Lord I hope that Emman’s death is not in vain. Sana may dahilan to.”

He revealed that shortly afterward, he received heartfelt messages from people whose lives Emman had quietly touched. Through TikTok, Emman had been reaching out to others experiencing depression, bipolar disorder, and other mental health struggles. “Emman pala was reaching out on all these people in TikTok. Emman has become the icon of those who are mentally ill, or may depression at bipolar. And despite her pain, despite the suffering ng anak ko, she was calling these people. Tinatawagan niya,” he said, describing how his daughter’s compassion persisted despite her own battles.
Kuya Kim also shared that he and his wife, Felicia, are determined to ensure Emman’s life and struggles will continue to carry meaning and help others. “Even me and Feli, marami kaming gagawin. Magluluksa lamang kami ng ilang buwan o ilang linggo. Marami kaming gagawin. Marami akong nais gawin for Emman so her death is not in vain, para may dahilan yung pagkamatay niya,” he said, hinting at future projects focused on mental health awareness and support.
