Issa described how relentless online attacks eventually broke down her defenses, leading her to a moment when she felt completely lost and attempted to take her own life. She recalled waking up the next day with a sense that “it was not yet my time,” saying she believed God was telling her to keep going.

”The bashing gets so loud and intense. Once it gets into your head, once it breaks down all of your walls, and it gets to you. At a certain point, when you feel so sad, dark, lonely, and weak, and hindi mo na kayang labanan, then you are going to give up. That’s what I did. I gave up at a certain point, I did give up. Because I felt like there was just nothing. When they took everything from me, and I felt like I was nothing, parang sumuko na lang ako. Umuwi ako, James thought I was with my sister, my sister thought I was with James. I went home and then I attempted. I didn’t tell anyone. But I still woke up the next day and I felt like this was not yet my time. God is telling me: Not yet. I was so sad that I let myself get to that point.

“I had no energy to pull myself out, but I has James to pull me out. He really helped me to get back to myself again. He helped lift myself up so I could fight this and we fought this together.
