“And sources tell us nakapag-F1 pa sa Singapore ang ilang politiko nung nakaraang linggo? Congressmen? Seriously?” Karen ranted.
“Lord, please give us politicians who genuinely feel and care for our people. Yung may malasakit. Hindi bingi at bulag,” the veteran broadcast journalist prayed.
Karen’s message underscored public frustration over what many perceive as the lack of urgency and empathy among some public officials. Her reference to politicians allegedly attending the Formula 1 race in Singapore while the country faced successive disasters drew particular attention from social media users, who echoed her call for accountability and compassion in leadership.
As rescue and relief efforts continue in Davao Oriental and nearby provinces affected by the recent earthquake, Karen’s appeal has resonated widely, reflecting the public’s growing desire for leaders who not only respond effectively but also empathize deeply with the struggles of ordinary Filipinos.
