On Saturday, September 20, Pia recounted a conversation with her daughter during a drive home, highlighting the well-known Mandela Effect.
"Driving home last night, my daughter and I were discussing the Mandela Effect—collective false memory phenomenon, wherein tons of people believe something at face value that isn’t actually factual—which is why direct evidence is important," she wrote.
The Mandela Effect, often described as the collective misremembering of facts or events, has captured widespread attention on social media in recent years. Pia used the discussion as a segue into another social phenomenon, the Streisand Effect, which occurs when attempts to suppress information end up amplifying it.

She illustrated the effect through a recent controversy involving the Discayas.
"Prior to their campaigning to get their fingers on Pasig, they were probably known only in those circles involving contractors and the bidding wars," the wife of late Francis Magalona noted.
She continued: "A simple post from their rival, sitting Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto, calling out the journalists who’d featured the Discayas in interviews, unleashed an entire chain of ludicrous information."
The issue, Pia noted, revolves around why certain media personalities seemed to elevate individuals of questionable wealth. She argued that the Discayas’ habit of boasting about their achievements unintentionally exposed them to public scrutiny, sparking a chain reaction that extended into higher levels of local politics.
"But since the Discayas couldn’t help gloating and bragging about their so-called rise to the top, they inadvertently exposed themselves, which led to a domino effect involving other characters who go way up the totem pole," Pia added.
She concluded her post by emphasizing the value of evidence and science in assessing claims of prestige or success:
"If you think ‘nothing beats a Jetstar holiday…,’ think again! Nothing beats science. ISAULI ANG SALAPI."
The Instagram post was accompanied by a striking photo depicting a wall with red graffiti stating: "ARTISTA NG BAYAN! NGAYON AY LUMALABAN!"
Through her post, Pia Magalona once again positioned herself as a thoughtful commentator on social issues, blending personal reflection with a critique of media and political dynamics.
