Actress Janella Salvador took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her disappointment over certain remarks she has seen online. In her post, she claimed that some of the most discriminatory and homophobic comments — even lesbophobic ones — sometimes come from within the LGBTQIA+ community itself.

She emphasized that while criticism and opinions are normal, they should not include unnecessary attacks on personal preference, appearance, or self-expression.

“It’s bothersome how sometimes those who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community are the ones who come up with the most homophobic (lesbophobic, even) comments.

Criticism and opinions can be thrown without making unnecessary remarks about personal preference, appearance and how people choose to comfortably present themselves. Not to mention those of you who laugh along with the colorist and misogynistic comments. Backwards much?”

Janella Salvador is a Filipina actress. She is the daughter of Jenine Desiderio and Rage band frontman, Juan Miguel Salvador. She rose to fame for her portrayal of Nikki Grace “Nik-Nik” Lim in "Be Careful With My Heart." She played the role of Valentina in ABS-CBN's "Mars Ravelo's Darna" series. She has a child with her former boyfriend Markus Paterson named Jude Trevor Paterson.
