In his post, Mikael admitted that the surgery was initially scary but turned into a funny experience because of his anesthesia-induced antics. “Undergoing a medical operation for the first time was, admittedly a bit scary but I completely forgot that anesthesia can make you quite loopy. I had a 15 minute vlog with Bonez as I rambled on and I don’t remember any of it. Basta, si Kobe Bryant madalas nasa kwento ko daw,” he wrote.
Thankfully, his recovery went smoothly. “As for the operation, recovery has gone quite well. It took 2 weeks before I got my stitches removed and now, it’s all about slowly regaining the ability to walk. Can’t wait to play with Leon since he is starting to crawl and babble,” he added, expressing excitement to spend more time with his wife and their baby.
In an earlier post, Mikael revealed what caused his major injury.
A few weeks ago, I ruptured my achilles tendon…possibly the scariest basketball related injury I could imagine. But at this point in my life, I guess we take whatever curveballs life throws at us. My first goal is just to get back to walking normally so I can help Mama Bonez take care of Leon. Then, over the long run, I can re-learn how to run and jump alongside my son. From what I’ve gathered, it’s going to be a very long road to recovery but I’m always up for a challenge. ps, moving around in crutches is tough
