The Kapuso actor, who bagged the Best Single Performance by an Actor award at the 37th Star Awards for Television, faced the entertainment press after accepting his trophy in Quezon City on Sunday, August 24.
During the sidelines interview, tabloid showbiz journalist Janiz Navida asked Alden about Maine’s statement.
With a gentle expression, Alden replied, “I don’t want to comment on that issue po. Sorry.”

To recall, Maine made the candid revelation in the fifth episode of the Tamang Panahon podcast.
“Na-in love talaga ko kay Alden, vocal naman ako. Kahit sino naman ’yung magtanong sakin, sasagutin ko naman nang diretso. Na-in love ako sa kanya pero hindi siya nanligaw,” Maine admitted, adding that Alden was aware of her feelings because she told him directly.
“Tinanong ko siya noon, kasi ang straightforward ko naman na tao. Tinanong ko siya, ‘Sabihin mo na sakin, ano bang nararamdaman mo for me?’ Direkta kong tinanong sa kanya, gusto ko lang malaman. Sabi ko, ’Kung ano man ‘yan, tatanggapin ko naman. Kailangan ko lang malaman.’ Tapos ayun, ang sabi lang niya, ‘Di ko pwedeng sabihin sa ’yo kasi mawawala ’yung magic,’” she recalled.
Despite the unrequited romance, Maine emphasized that her off-cam relationship with Alden was meaningful and that they had a proper closure after all that happened between them.
“Grabe ’yung relationship din namin ni Alden off cam. Pero may closure naman kaming dalawa. Napag-usapan namin lahat,” she said.
Alden Richards, born as Richard Reyes Faulkerson Jr. on January 2, 1992, is a well-known Kapuso actor, model, and recording artist. He is recognized as Asia's Multimedia Star because of his work as a TV host, music artist, endorser, and award-winning actor. Alden is known for being courteous, generous, and kind-hearted, in addition to his talent and successful showbiz career. He rose to fame as the love team partner of Maine Mendoza but both stars have evolved into individual superstars.

He then gave another statement that brought another reaction from other people present in the studio. “Ayoko pong sabihing alam niya but I did confess,” Alden said, indicating that he might have told Maine in the past about his feelings for her. Tito Boy, however, did not pursue the subject anymore out of respect for Maine who just got married.
