Francis “Jun” Posadas, a veteran filmmaker celebrated for his contributions to action, drama, and adult films in the 1980s and 1990s, has died on Tuesday, August 12 at the age of 76.

The heartbreaking news was first reported by outlets including Inquirer.net and PEP.ph.
According to Inquirer.net, Posadas’ death was confirmed by his daughter, Susan Kelly Posadas, in a poignant Facebook post.
“Direk Francis Jun Posadas packed up. I love you so much, my father,” she emotionally penned accompanied by a black-and-white photograph of the late director.

In a report by PEP.ph, Susan shared further details of her father’s final moments.
“Natumba lang po siya, mga 8:30 A.M. po. Nagbebenta pa siya sa tindahan, bigla siyang bumagsak,” she narrated.
“Malapit lang kami sa ospital pero wala na siyang pulso pagdating namin sa Our Lady of Pillar Hospital, Imus, Cavite. Nag-try po na i-revive siya ng thirty minutes pero wala na po siya talaga,” she recounted.
Posadas rose to prominence in the local film industry during the late 1980s, particularly for his work in a controversial subgenre known locally as “pene” films. As explained by Inquirer.net, the term “pene” is a play on the Filipino words for “penetration” and “pelikula” (movie) and was associated with films that were considered daring and unfiltered.
Posadas’ films include Itlog, Kaulayaw, and Kerida, as well as acclaimed works such as Cordora: Lulutang Ka sa Sarili Mong Dugo (1992), Ambush (1988), and Pugoy – Hostage: Davao (1993). He also directed the anti-drug film Bawal Na Gamot (1994) and action titles including Babayaran Mo ng Dugo (1989), Ganti ng Puso (1996), and Sige, Subukan Mo (1998).
In a previous report by KAMI, Fritz Ynfante, a veteran film and television director, has died at the age of 84 last July. His passing came just two weeks ahead of his 85th birthday on August 4. Tributes have poured in from celebrities and peers, who remember him as a mentor, visionary, and passionate artist. Pops Fernandez, Martin Nievera, and Dawn Zulueta are among those who took to social media to honor Ynfante.
In another report, Bayani Casimiro Jr., a former comedian best remembered for playing Prinsipe K in the sitcom “Okay Ka, Fairy Ko,” has died. His sister, Marilou Casimiro, confirmed the unfortunate news to PEP.ph. He succumbed to cardiac arrest on July 25, 2025, at the age of 57. Details about the late actor’s wake and funeral have also been shared.
