The Fernandez family is mourning the loss of 78-year-old Beth Fernandez, sister of the late action star Rudy Fernandez, who died in a house fire in Quezon City on Wednesday, August 6.

The tragic news was confirmed by her family members through heartfelt posts on social media, prompting an outpouring of grief from friends, relatives, and fans of the Fernandez family.

Rap Fernandez, the eldest son of Rudy and actress Lorna Tolentino, announced his aunt’s passing on social media the following day.

Sharing a photo of Beth, he wrote, “Yesterday, my father’s sister Beth Fernandez died tragically in a house fire. Rest in peace, Tita Beth,” a short but emotional tribute that reflected the family’s deep sorrow.

In a separate and more detailed statement, Beth’s daughter, Joanna, revealed the harrowing circumstances of her mother’s heartbreaking passing. The fire broke out at their home in Scout Rallos, Kamuning, quickly consuming the entire property.

“Nasunog po ang buong bahay at dahil bedridden si Mama, hindi na po siya nasagip,” Joanna emotionally revealed.

The blaze did not only claim Beth’s life but also destroyed the property and possessions of other family members.

“Kasama rin pong nawala lahat ng gamit at ari-arian ng aming mga mahal sa buhay — Kuya Ramon Araneta, my sister Marybeth, Ronn ronn at pamangkin kong si OJ,” Joanna wrote.

Joanna then appealed to the public for assistance as the family struggles to recover from the tragedy.

“For those who would like to help in any way — cash donations or kahit anong gamit — sobrang malaking tulong po sa amin ngayon. Please PM me po.

According to the bereaved family, Beth’s wake will be held from August 10 to 13 at St. Peter Chapels – Commonwealth in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
