In a candid interview with Bianca Gonzalez for the show The B Side, Jessy recounted the emotional conversation they had before her spouse officially filed his candidacy for Vice Governor of Batangas for the midterm elections last May.
When asked about the worst disagreement she and Luis had faced, Jessy revealed it stemmed from his political aspirations.

Jessy admitted feeling anxious about Luis entering a completely new arena. She explained that she had grown comfortable with their lifestyle and was fearful of the changes his political journey could bring.
“We were in the middle of making a decision tapos siguro I was scared kaya ang taas agad ng emotions. So kahit si Luis nun, 'Bakit ka nagagalit nag-uusap lang naman? Kaya nga tayo nag de-decision magkasama kasi I really value your opinion and I want to decide with you,'” she recalled.
Though hesitant at first, Jessy said their disagreement was resolved swiftly after Luis thoughtfully explained his intentions, leading her to stand by his decision.
“I guess it was more of like we created this peaceful life tapos may iba na naman kaming mundong papasukin so mahirap nanaman. It de-escalated naman right away, in-explain niya sa akin kung bakit na gusto niyang tumakbo and we decided together na okay I will support you 100-percent,” she added.
Throughout the campaign, Jessy stood by Luis, showing unwavering support even as he faced a challenging and ultimately unsuccessful run.
The actor-host, who ran alongside his mother, veteran actress and politician Vilma Santos-Recto, and his half-brother Ryan Recto, ultimately lost his bid to incumbent Vice Governor Dodo Mandanas. Meanwhile, Ate Vi and Ryan won their respective races for governor and congressman.
