Gwendoline Soriano, representing Baguio City in the Miss Universe Philippines 2025 pageant, candidly shared her recent health challenges a day before the preliminaries and just days before the competition’s finals.

In an Instagram post, Soriano revealed she has been dealing with an eye infection and an alopecia flare-up, conditions that have impacted her confidence and appearance during a critical time in the pageant.
“Not so glamorous. The past few days, I’ve been struggling with an eye infection and an alopecia flare-up — challenges that have shaken my confidence and affected my appearance, especially with the Preliminaries approaching, when all eyes are on us, expecting us to be ‘flawless,’” Soriano wrote.

Despite these setbacks, Soriano emphasized her reliance on faith and the importance of embracing imperfections.
She stated, “They’ve reminded me that strength and confidence don’t come from my own, but from God. This journey is His, and I’m in awe of how He is using me to show His power, even in my weakness.”
Soriano’s transparency about her health struggles has garnered support and admiration from fans and fellow contestants alike. She concluded her post by expressing gratitude for the journey and the community around her, saying, “Grateful for this beautiful journey I get to experience, with U and for U! See you all tomorrow.” 
The Miss Universe Philippines 2025 finals are scheduled for Friday, May 2, where Soriano and other candidates will compete for the coveted crown.

Dia bagged the Reina Hispanoamericana 2025 crown during the pageant’s coronation night in Bolivia on February 10. In a series of posts on Instagram Stories, Winwyn wrote sweet messages for her fellow beauty queen. In one of her other posts, Winwyn expressed, “I knew it. Unang usap pa lang namin, alam ko mananalo siya.” Furthermore, Winywyn affectionately called Dia “my reina.”
