Filipino-American actor Sam Milby recently opened up about his personal struggles during an emotional interview on GMA’s “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda,” which aired on March 3, 2025.

Reflecting on his aspirations to start a family, Sam shared his concerns about timing and age. He mentioned that his father was 49 when he was born, which is not his ideal age to become a parent. He also noted that, despite his plans to become a father by 35, life doesn’t always unfold as expected. He said, “You can make so many plans in life but life doesn’t always happen when you want it to.”
Aside from the pressure to have kids, the 40-year-old actor also discussed his breakup with his former fiancée, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
The star spoke about the end of his engagement with Catriona, acknowledging that the breakup has been particularly challenging.

He expressed, “No breakup is easy. It wasn’t only [because] mag-boyfriend, girlfriend kami. We were engaged. And to have that not push through, it’s been really rough, honestly.” 
The actor became visibly emotional during the interview, admitting that discussing the breakup and its aftermath was difficult for him.
He stated, “When that happened in the last few weeks, it’s been, yeah, it’s been really rough. And I think it’s better to just be honest about it.” 
Sam and Catriona publicly revealed their relationship in 2020 and announced their engagement in 2023. Speculations about their split arose when fans noticed Catriona without her engagement ring and the removal of their engagement photos from her social media accounts. 
Despite the personal challenges, Sam continues to focus on his career, marking his 20th year in the entertainment industry. His candid revelations during the interview have resonated with fans, offering a glimpse into the actor’s personal life and his hopes for the future.
