Bill and Melinda Gates to get a divorce after 27 years of marriage

- Bill and Melinda Gates have opted to call it quits and made an announcement on Twitter that they are getting a divorce

- The couple said that they have already given the matter a thorough thought and now both have decided to end their marriage

- Since both take part in foundations, they also promised to continue working together on their philanthropic causes

- They said that they believe they could no longer grow together as a couple in the next phase of their lives

Bill and Melinda Gates have called it quits. The power couple announced that they are divorcing because they believe that they can no longer grow together as a couple.

In a tweet, the couple stated that they have given the matter a lot of thought. Since the tweet's signature was both their names, it can be gleaned that the statement came from the both of them and that it was a mutual decision.

They have also worked hard on their relationship but they made the decision to end the marriage.

They said that over the last 27 years, they have raised three incredible children and have built a foundation that works all over the world. The foundation of the couple has been always among the first in line to render help to calamity-stricken countries.

They promised to continue to work on their foundation and also asked for space and privacy for their family. The couple, both of whom have also dedicated most of their time to philanthropic work signified that they would keep on working on the causes that they believe in.

Bill Gates' name has been synonymous to technology, with Windows, Microsoft and many other applications that non-Mac users are utilizing around the world. Thus, news about an impending divorce greatly concerns everyone.

"After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage," the statement read.
