In his manifestation on the Philippine Senate floor, the actor-turned-politician said that Sotto reminds him of the country’s national hero, Jose Rizal.

He asked the mayor to continue all the good things that he started in Pasig City. “You truly embody what our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal has said: ‘Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan.’ Thank you for being such an inspiration,” the senator said in his manifestation in support of Senate Resolutions 659 and 660.

Revilla also expressed his belief that the Pasig mayor’s father, Vic Sotto, and his mother, Coney Reyes, are very happy with his achievements. “Of course, your Tito ‘Tito’, our Senate President na isa magandang ring ehemplo na katulad mo (who has also been a good example to public officials),” the senator said during his manifestation.

Both senate resolutions call for the commendation of the young local chief executive for his excellent performance in Pasig City. Senators Panfilo Lacson, Lito Lapid, and Senate President Tito Sotto III filed the said resolutions. All of the senators were made co-authors of the resolution, which was later approved by the legislative body.

In 2014, the Ombudsman filed plunder charges against Senator Bong Revilla, which led to the detention of the legislator. In 2019, the Sandiganbayan acquitted the senator of all corruption charges, though the Office of the Ombudsman insisted that he still needs to pay P125 million for civil liability on his plunder case. According to the Ombudsman, while the senator won an acquittal, it does not erase his civil liability.

Gerald Anderson expresses desire to build his own family

The Pasig City Mayor was advocating for change and for taking steps, little as they may be, in fighting corruption. However, there are some sectors who are not pleased with the mayor as in the case of one Twitter user who told Mayor Vico that even before he was born, corruption has already been a problem of the country.

The young local chief executive responded in a very educated and on-point manner without batting an eyelash. He told the user that even he was not born yet because corruption is a problem ingrained in society for hundreds of years but if people try, it can happen, even if little by little.

It was not the first time that the Pasig City Mayor took to social media to educate users. In another case, he posted on Twitter to orient the public and give a warning to everyone about fake COVID-19 vaccines. Mayor Vico showed the photo of the fake vaccines and told the public not to buy them. He indicated signs that show why such vaccines were fake, saying that even in the picture, one could already see that they're fake.
