Police chase man who left bag, box at EDSA monument; turns out it contains vegetables

- Policemen chased a man who left a bag and a box at the People Power Monument

- The man ran on the highway and he was thereafter chased by several officers

- They caught up with him in the middle of the highway, and were able to immediately restrain him

- When they opened the bag and the box, they found out that they contained vegetables like corn and leaves

A man left a bag and a box at the EDSA Monument on Feb. 25, Thursday, a day celebrating the 35th anniversary of the EDSA People Power revolution, which toppled the Marcos regime.

Policemen immediately chased the guy, with several of them running after the guy on the highway.

They caught up with him and restrained him, however, it turned out that the contents of the bag and the box that were left at the monument were merely corn and some leaves.

The policemen stated that his actions were highly suspicious, which warranted the chase.

Videos of the actual chase, as well as when the guy was restrained became viral.

The EDSA Monument, also known as the People Power Monument, is the monument that was built to commemorate the events that transpired during the 1986 People Power Revolution. It is located on the corner of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and White Plains Avenue.

Bags of trash were scattered all over EDSA and most of them were made up of the "normal" accessories that people wear today due to the pandemic. There were disposable face masks, disposable gloves, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Six garbage bags were opened along the highway right before 5 a.m. Motorists who were plying the road avoided the trash and stayed at the two leftmost lanes.
