Here are the statements and reactions to the said termination:

Danilo Concepcion, UP President

"Should have no fear of academic freedom. Indeed UP has bred rebels and nonconformists—as well as it has bred presidents, senators, congressmen, and business, civic, and even military leaders. All the world’s great universities have produced the same range of thinkers and doers"

Leni Robredo, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines

"The unilateral scrapping of the decades-old Accord sends the opposite message: That under this administration, anyone, anywhere, at anytime, is fair game... Clearly, then, this is not a practical gesture, but a symbolic one. One designed to sow fear. One designed to discourage dissent. One designed to silence criticism."

Francisco "Kiko" Pangilinan, Senator of the Republic of the Philippines

"Tinutulan natin ang panghihimasok ng diktador noon. UP has always been and will always be a citadel of freedom and democracy.

No to the unilateral and arbitrary termination of the Enrile-Soto Accord.

"Leave the UP students alone! These are the kinds of acts that worsened the insurgency problem during the Marcos regime. We should have learned by now that purely military actions will not solve this very complicated problem. #DefendUP"

Risa Hontiveros, Senator of the Republic of the Philippines
