Boy Abunda was recently asked an intriguing question that is connected with the franchise renewal issue of ABS-CBN.

KAMI learned that the “King of Talk” was asked if he thinks President Rodrigo Duterte has something to do with the denial of franchise of the media giant.

It can be remembered that the country’s chief executive had been very vocal against the Kapamilya network. There was even a time when he said that he will make sure that the network will not get another 25-year franchise.

Boy initially stated that he thinks the President’s opposition of ABS-CBN has somehow played a major role in the decision of Congress to junk the franchise renewal bid.

However, he pointed out that there was a time when President Duterte seemingly set aside his issues with the network. It was when he accepted the apology of ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Carlo Katigbak.

“It’s very difficult to speculate. I think so… I mean, even if the President didn’t ask for the vote, some people were there to please the President…

“Parang ako, as a citizen of this country and as someone who work for the network, ang tingin ko, ‘Ay, parang lumambot na ang Presidente sa ABS-CBN.’ And I saw that, I believe that…” Boy said.

Boy Abunda is a Filipino showbiz personality who is dubbed as the “King of Talk.” He served as the hosts of prominent entertainment talk shows such as “TWBA” and “The Bottomline.”

He unhesitatingly aired his thoughts about Angel Locsin being very vocal with regards to the franchise issue of the Kapamilya network.

The said host also got emotional several months ago while talking about his mother who died in December last year.
