A medical frontliner recently went viral on social media after she created a post regarding the difficult situation inside a hospital with patients who are infected with the novel coronavirus disease.

The said healthcare worker, whose name is Jill Bañares, admitted that she often gets emotional because of the serious crisis that the Philippines is experiencing now.

She revealed that her shift at the hospital lasts for 8 hours everyday and she does not eat or drink during her entire shift to prevent using additional personal protective equipment (PPE).

The viral nurse also straightforwardly stated that she and her colleagues did not undergo any training or seminar with regards to handling patients with COVID-19 cases.

KAMI had a chance to interview Jill so that she could further narrate how she and her fellow frontliners put their lives at stake just to make sure that their patients are well taken care of.

She mentioned that this pandemic, as well as the problems in terms of test kits, protective equipment, and facilities, have been causing physical, emotional, and psychological stress to the people who serve at the frontlines.

She even admitted to crying at the hospital parking lot one time after her shift because she was already feeling hopeless and one of her colleagues died due to COVID-19.

“We know there is so little chance for us to win this battle unless a sudden miracle happens and an all-out support from the government is assured for our health care facilities,” she quipped.

“I cried sa hospital parking lot after duty hours. Everything felt so hopeless... But what I fear the most is the time na I will get to manage PUI mortality cases wherein you'll see family members grieving but they are not allowed to physically hug or be with their dying loved one on their last moments together,” she added.

As the interview progressed, Jill called on the government to listen to the sentiments of thousands of frontliners in the Philippines who are working overtime just to fight the said dreadful disease.

She also told the general public to be updated with what is happening in the community and to stay at home for several days to prevent further transmission of the virus.

Despite the difficulties that she and her colleagues are experiencing amid COVID-19 crisis, the viral staff nurse said that she will continue fighting because God wants her to serve her fellow Filipinos.

“Secure adequate high-quality PPEs, isolation facilities, manpower, and enough testing kits and testing facilities. Mass screening as well will greatly reduce, if not completely stop, the inflation of PUI cases in the country…” she stressed.

“I talk to God and I know He wants me to serve His people. Pero I would like to make myself clear, lalaban po ako pero di po ako magpapakamatay. When I feel hopeless and if my soul is weary, I pray,” she added.
