  • 2 medium potatoes, cubed
  • 2 large carrots, cubed
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, seeded and cubed
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and cubed
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. In a pan over medium heat, heat oil.
  2. Add onions and garlic and cook until softened.
  3. Add ground pork and cook, breaking into pieces with the back of a spoon, until lightly browned. Drain any excess grease.
  4. Add fish sauce and continue to cook for about 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Add tomatoes and cook, mashing with the back of a spoon, until softened and release juices.
  6. Add water and bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover and continue to simmer until meat is tender and fully cooked. Add more water in 1/2 cup.
  7. Add potatoes, carrots, and raisins and cook until liquid is mostly reduced, vegetables are tender, and raisins are softened.
  8. Add bell peppers and cook until tender-crisp.

Beef giniling recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 medium carrots, diced into small pieces
  • 3 medium potatoes, diced into small pieces
  • 1 large red bell pepper, diced into small pieces
  • 1 large green bell pepper, diced into small pieces
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Soak cubed potatoes and carrots in 1 cup of water and set aside.
  • Brown beef in a skillet on high heat until no longer pink and most of the oil comes out about 7 minutes. Remove excess oil, leaving about 2 tbsp just enough for sautéing.
  • Throw in garlic and onions and cook for about 5 minutes till garlic has slightly browned and onions are translucent.
  • Add soaked potatoes and carrots, discarding water. Sauté for 1 minute.
  • Add bell peppers and mix.
  • Add soy sauce.
  • Add tomato sauce, salt, and pepper, then mix.
  • Cover skillet and simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring three times in 5-minute intervals until potatoes and carrots are cooked, and most of the liquid has evaporated.
  • Serve with rice.

Chicken giniling recipe

Giniling is often prepared with ground pork or beef, but if any of these two is not available, there is another kind of meat you can use – chicken. Ground chicken is cooked in a tomato-based sauced with potato, carrot, green peas, and raisins.

2 lbs. ground chicken

1 piece carrot cubed

  • 2 pieces baking potato cubed
  • 3/4 cups green peas frozen
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
