In a report by the Philippine News Agency (author Ruth Abbey Gita-Carlos), President Duterte proposed the idea during his “productive” meeting with the Cabinet members on Wednesday.
“The President floated the idea to ban the use of plastics, which according to him would require legislative action,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
According to ABS-CBN News, a 2015 report claimed that the Philippines ranked as the 3rd biggest source of plastic leaking into the oceans.
