Ice Seguerra reminisces the hardships of coming out in the entertainment industry

Ice Seguerra, formerly known as Aiza Seguerra revealed that he still recalls the challenge of coming out in the world of showbiz. He was very scared about being straight up with his gender orientation to the point that it might hurt his reputation.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH, the former child star expressed how hard it was for him about two decades ago to come out as part of the LGBTQ community considering his showbiz career.
He was very well-known and forged his name as a young artist and that did not help in making him comfortable with the decision to come out.
“Actually the first coming out, nung I thought I was a lesbian, I didn’t really come out come out na tipong, ‘Yes I am a lesbian!’ It’s actually the way the video editor edited my statements. Parang it came out as if I said yes I am lesbian. So I was actually very scared kasi papalabas pa lang yung ‘Pagdating ng Panahon’ nun. And that was in 2001 so sobrang different noon sa ngayon eh,” he shared.
Though the experience had proven him wrong and contradicted his prediction that it will affect the sales of his latest single ‘Pagdating ng Panahon’. Instead, the song became a hit to the Pinoys back then.
“Pagdating ng Panahon” is proof that Pinoys can be be open-minded about the LGBTQ community. “We all know what happened to the song. Talagang lumaki siya ng malaking malaki. Happy ako na it’s a step towards people not really caring about ano yung gender identity or s***** orientation ng tao, but they’re more focused on the music, on the talent and not really on what they see,” he explained.
