After a 2 week break, Wowowin will go back on air with a better set, bigger prizes, and a new co-host according to its host, Willie Revillame.
In a Chika Minute Report in 24 Oras, Willie revealed that the break was meant to prepare a bigger show for their avid followers.
"Yung pagbabakasyon namin is more of preparation sa pagbabalik. Yung ideas na mas pinaganda ang lahat-- games, show, lights para quality talaga," said Willie.
The host of the variety game show said that a new co-host will be joining in the fun. He revealed that the new co-host is a beauty queen who also competed in an international pageant.
Willie also said in the interview that he has a new song especially composed by the singer-song writer Ogie Alcasid.
"Mayroon akong bagong love song na ginawa ni Ogie Alcasid na may pagkahugot. Kasi uso ngayon ang hugot, masarap siya kantahin, yung 'Akala Ko," shared Willie.
At the start of the month, GMA Network announced the short break for Wowowin amidst the child abuse case surrounding its host, Willie Revillame.
The case stemmed from the March 12, 2011 episode of Revillame’s previous game show in another channel “Willing Willie” wherein a six-year-old boy was shown doing his “macho dancing” moves.
Based on an Instagram post by kapusoprgirl, GMA Corporate Communications Vice-President Angela Javier-Cruz relayed the news but did not directly explain the reason for such a “break.”
However, the said statement pointed out that Revillame welcomed the “brief vacation” and is excited to prepare for the show’s anniversary when it returns on air.
“Fans and supporters can look forward to bigger prizes, more fun games and excitement from Wowowin,” the statement added.
During the break, the Wowowin studio facilities were temporarily used for the election coverage of the Kapuso network.
Wowowin will start airing again on Monday, May 16, before the primetime news show 24 Oras.
