Erik Matti gave his straightforward opinion on the new Darna actress.
During the press conference for the HBO Asia series “Food Lore," he shared his thoughts on Jane De Leon as the new Darna.
"I know Jane. Maganda ‘yung choice sa kanya kasi parang girl-next-door. Very fresh"
The veteran director admitted that the young actress is not his personal choice to play the famous Pinoy superhero. He was asked before who he thinks will suit the role and named Nadine Lustre as his top pick. However, he acknowledged why ABS-CBN and the new Darna director Jerrold Tarog chose Jane.
"I think it’s a good decision for ABS-CBN and Jerrold Tarrog. It’s good that they picked a fresh face talaga. Maganda ‘yun."
Matti also gave a piece of advice to the Kapamilya star on her new role.
"Embrace it. It’s not an easy role, but she needs to embrace it because it’s going to bring her to greater heights as an actress"
