Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach warned her fans of a Facebook poser, who reportedly posted a pro-Marcos video praising the former dictator.
The fake Pia Wurtzbach Facebook account posted a video and a caption that reads: “Kilala natin si Ferdinand Marcos dahil sa Martial Law pero alam niyo rin ba lahat ng mga accomplishment niya noong siya ay Presidente pa ng Pilipinas, dapat mo talaga itong malaman.”
Taking to her official Instagram account, the reigning Miss Universe posted a screenshot of the fake account and asked that she be spared from all these.
"Again. Not me. Please, people! I do not talk like this. You should know me better," 26 year-old beauty queen said.
While the post has already been deleted, the Facebook page which has 650,000 followers still has not been taken down.
The Facebook page’s description reads: "a page created to support the reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach."
One of the previous posts in the same Facebook page is a shared blog about the presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte. The caption read: “Ito pala si Mayor [pertaining to Duterte] sa likod ng Camera basahin at e.share! President Mayor Duterte! Tapang, Malasakit, at mapagmahal sa pamilya panoorin ang buong interview.”
This isn’t the first time that the third Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown has been maliciously used in political propaganda being spread in social media.
At the heat of the election campaign last April, another page conducted a poll under her name asking followers to choose between Mayor Duterte and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, who is the running-mate of the son of the former dictator, Senator Bongbong Marcos.
Wurtzbach, who is currently based in New York, asked her fans and supporters to follow instead the official Instagram account of the Miss Universe organization and be updated with her activities.
