The Supreme Court (SC) has not yet decided over the electoral protest filed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos against Vice President Leni Robredo.
KAMI learned that while the High Court has yet to decide, it already allowed the release of the initial recount result.
In a report by the CNN Philippines, Robredo and Marcos will be given 20 days to comment upon the receipt of the result.
SC sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) has decided to “release to the parties the report on the revision and appreciation of ballots in the 3 pilot provinces and for them to comment thereon,” Public Information Office chief Brian Keith Hosaka said.
The PET required both camps to "submit a memoranda on the various issues relating to the jurisdiction and other matters on the third cause of action of the case, which is the annulment of election results for Vice President in the provinces of Lanao Del Sur, Basilan and Maguindanao.”
On June 30, 2016, Marcos filed the electoral protest against Robredo after she won in the May 2016 polls. She won with 14,418,817 votes, leading with 263,473 votes against Marcos.
The recount started in April 2018, covering the precincts in Iloilo, Camarines Sur, and Negros Oriental.
Bongbong Marcos is the son of former President Ferdinand Marcos and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. He has siblings Imee, Irene, and Aimee.
Meanwhile, Robredo is the widow of former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo who passed away in 2012.
