President Rodrigo Duterte had a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.
KAMI learned that Putin vowed to Duterte that he would help him fight against terrorism.
“Mr. President [Duterte], we are ready to continue to develop our partnership and to share our experience and achievements in the field of counter terrorism," Putin said.
In a report by the Manila Bulletin (author Argyll Cyrus Geducos), Putin recalled the first visit of Duterte in 2017, when he had to cut his trip short due to the Marawi siege.
“I remember that during your last visit to Russia in May of 2017, you had to cut it short and return to the Philippines due to terrorist attacks committed by ISIS terrorists. And over the last two years, you have managed to lower the level of terrorist threat in your country and to strengthen the potential of your security bodies,” Putin said.
“We are prepared to develop our partnership when it comes to countering terrorism and share our experience and all the developments,” he added.

"Russian companies are willing to increase the export of energy, aircraft, motor transport and special vehicles to the Philippines. We are interested in promoting industrial cooperation and joint projects in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, space exploration and digital technology," the Russian president said.
In a previous report by KAMI, President Duterte got criticized by netizens for his “unkempt look” when he met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow.
