President Rodrigo Duterte had a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday.

KAMI learned that Putin vowed to Duterte that he would help him fight against terrorism.

Mr. President [Duterte], we are ready to continue to develop our partnership and to share our experience and achievements in the field of counter terrorism," Putin said.

In a report by the Manila Bulletin (author Argyll Cyrus Geducos), Putin recalled the first visit of Duterte in 2017, when he had to cut his trip short due to the Marawi siege.

I remember that during your last visit to Russia in May of 2017, you had to cut it short and return to the Philippines due to terrorist attacks committed by ISIS terrorists. And over the last two years, you have managed to lower the level of terrorist threat in your country and to strengthen the potential of your security bodies,” Putin said.

We are prepared to develop our partnership when it comes to countering terrorism and share our experience and all the developments,” he added.
