Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed the re-emergence of polio virus in the country after 19 years.

Polio is a highly viral infectious disease that mostly affects young children. In some cases, polio could cause paralysis or even death.

Here are some tips, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) Philippines:
- Make sure to have the polio vaccine
- Observe proper hygiene; wash hands regularly with soap
- Eat fully cooked food
- Drink clean and safe water
- Use a toilet
As previously reported by KAMI, the health department is set to have a free polio vaccine campaign as a response to the outbreak.
The DOH has confirmed that a 3-year-old in Lanao del Sur has acquired the polio virus. The department also urges the parents to have their children vaccinated.
