DOH to launch free polio vaccine this coming October

- The Department of Health will be having a free polio vaccine campaign in October

- The free vaccine will soon be available at barangay health centers

The Department of Health will be launching a polio vaccine campaign amid the re-emergence of the virus in the Philippines recently.

KAMI learned that the health department will be starting the campaign on October 14.

In a report by ABS-CBN Network’s Salamat Dok, Health Undersecretary Eric Domingo those 5 years old and below will be given a free vaccine.

Kailangan sugpuin natin ito nang mabilis at saka nang maaga para hindi na kumalat," Domingo said.

The free vaccine will be available at barangay health centers and they will also offer it door-to-door to other areas.

As reported by GMA News Online, some parents bring back their children to get vaccinated amid the polio outbreak.

"Walang overdose sa polio vaccine,” Domingo said.

Kung hindi sila sigurado kung na-kumpleto, dalhin pa rin po,” he added.

In a previous report by KAMI, the Department of Health has confirmed that there were reported cases of polio in the country after 19 years.

KAMI also explained the polio virus and its symptoms. According to the health department, there is no cure yet for polio. The only way to prevent it is through vaccination.
