Ogie Alcasid willingly exposed to the public his personal thoughts regarding the recent controversy that his fellow “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” judges faced.

KAMI learned that the “hurados” of the said singing competition received heavy criticisms on social media after giving a low score to a wild card contestant.

Marianne Osabel from Luzon failed to advance to the next round after receiving 16.5 percent only from the judges, while her opponent scored 50 percent.

Although Ogie was not part of the controversial episode, he was aware of what happened and he even talked about it in a recent interview with the press.

He quipped that the people must understand that “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” is just like other competitions where there will be disappointments and triumphs.

The award-winning Original Pilipino Music (OPM) singer also disclosed that each judge has a personal favorite, but they need to set that aside for fair judging.

"Kagaya ng ibang contest, ang 'Tawag ng Tanghalan' ay hindi naiiba in the sense na hindi lahat magiging masaya sa resulta lagi. And that is a truth that we have to accept…” he stated.

"First of all, napakahirap maging hurado to balance all of that. Sila rin mismo, kami rin may mga manok rin, but it is a daily performance-based judging that we have to do," he added.

With regards to the issue, Ogie believed that no favoritism happened during the viral episode, as he emphasized that it was the better contestant who won that time.

He even called on television viewers to broaden their minds so that they can see that the judges are just trying to identify who is better in every performance.

"It is not a matter of us favoring someone else or clinging kung ano ang gusto ng masa… Kung sino 'yung nagpakita ng kasindak-sindak na performance ay siyang mananaig,” he stressed.

"Let's try to broaden our minds and see what went on. It's really a matter of judges feeling that on that day, someone is better. 'Yun lang naman 'yun," he added.
