- Albay Rep. Joey Salceda said public school teachers, government nurses, and other low-salaried personnel will be receiving higher salary increases soon
- President Rodrigo Duterte has allotted P110 billion for the three-year pay hike program
- The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) has commented over the issue
Vice chairman of the committee on appropriations of the House of Representatives, Albay Rep. Joey Salceda said on Tuesday that public school teachers, nurses, and other low-salaried personnel will be receiving a bigger salary increase.
KAMI learned that the increase will take effect in the next round of pay adjustment.
In a report by the Philippine Star (author Jess Diaz), Salceda has bared the planned three-year pay upgrading program. The increase will benefit those who have Salary Grades (SG) 1-17.
Meanwhile, those in SG 18-33, including the President and congressmen will receive lower salary increases.
“The adjustments will preserve and somewhat improve the purchasing power of civil servants, considering the consumer price inflation of 3.4 percent over the past three years and forward estimates of two to four percent per year over the next three years,” Salceda said.

As reported by the Inquirer (author Matthew Reysio-Cruz), it was announced that President Rodrigo Duterte has allotted P110 billion for the salary increase of the government workers for the next three years.
However, the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) demands to know how the budget will be distributed to the workers.
“The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines demanded the release of the salary increase distribution plan of the Duterte administration’s declared Php110 billion allotment for government workers’ pay hike for 2020-2022. This will allow for a clearer picture of what employees can expect,” ACT said.
In a previous report by KAMI, President Duterte urged the Congress to pass the Salary Standardization Law during his 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Rodrigo Roa Duterte is the current and 16th President of the Philippines. Before he won in the 2016 polls, he served as the mayor of Davao City for more than 20 years.
