Surely, you have seen the Legaspi family somewhere in an advertisement, be it Jollibee, Selecta, or any other TV ads they star in, their family – Zoren, his wife Carmina, and their twin children Cassy and Mavy – embodies the perfect Filipino family in a happy home.
But what is their family like when they’re away from the spotlight?
While Carmina is flattered that most Pinoys see her family as ideal, she admits that they also have their shortcomings.

“Wala namang perfect, di naman kami perfect. Nag-aaway din kami, may mga arguments din kami. But at the end of the day, pag-ibig pa rin ang umiiral.”
(Nobody is perfect, and neither are we. We also have fights and arguments, but at the end of the day, love still prevails.)
What’s the secret to her happy marriage? Carmina replied: “Wala naman kaming mga pretentions. What you see is what you get. Eto kami e mapagmahal kami. We share.”
(We have no pretensions. What you see is what you get. Here we are, we love each other. We share.)
The couple said that they teach their kids through example.
“Ang importante kasi, nakikita nila, nakikita nila sa amin, na nagsi-share kami sa kanila, sa ibang tao, sa mga kasambahay. So I think it follows.”
(What’s important is that they see us sharing things with them, with other people, with neighbors. So I think it follows.)
Although Mavy is already a teenager, he still kisses his dad in front of his friends after basketball practice, and is not afraid to show his affection for his parents.
“Hindi iyan mahihiya dahil kung hindi niya gagawin yun, ako ang pupunta sa kanya. Ako ang hahalik sa kanya.” Zoren commented.
(He isn’t shy because if he doesn’t do it first, I’ll be the one to approach him and kiss him.)
“Ako kay Mavy, kahit na ihu-hug ko siya, iki-kiss ko siya, ganyan in public. Wala siya nung ‘Mom, no!’ wala siyang ganun. That’s why I’m really, really thankful.” Carmina added.
(When I’m with Mavy, even if I hug him or kiss him in public, he doesn’t protest. That’s why I’m really, really thankful.)
When asked about the most important lesson her parents taught her, Cassy replied:
Zoren, like most dads, is very protective of his children, especially his daughter Cassy. For instance, he required them to keep their social media accounts private.
Currently, the twins have no long-term plans to be part of showbiz. They occasionally appear on ASAP, and star in TV commercials, but their main priority is their studies.
Once they finish school and want to pursue showbiz, Zoren and Carmina are both willing to fully support their kids’ dreams.
