According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Yukon territory in Canada will be needing about 2,000 Filipino workers yearly.
KAMI learned that Yukon is in the northern part of Canada and has a population of 20,000 only.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News, some of the skilled workers needed are nurse, engineer, machine operator, chef, and teacher. The minimum salary is about P80,000.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said that he already instructed Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) administrator Bernard Olalia to make the process much easier for those who will work in Yukon.
The employment will be through a government-to-government track. Since the POEA will be handling the application, there will be no placement fee.
